Commercial Warehouse (Not a Typical Conker Project)
Since being established in 1999 we have concentrated on sustainable buildings and conservation projects and have rarely shifted from these ethics. A rare exception is a new steel framed warehouse for a renewable energy company, who needed a quick and cost effective storage facility to assist with offshore maintenance work. Due to the coastal environment galvanised steel was assessed as the most durable frame material. We were able to make use of an existing concrete foundation slab, saving cost, time and cement.
The building is clad with a fire resistant composite corrugated panel, which provides a modicum of insulation just enough to combat surface condensation. The main contractor, Mays Building Services, and the steel sub-contractor, Fowler and Gilbert, were both excellent.
We look forward to having an opportunity to design a glulam and naturally insulated warehouse on a budget in the future.
