We were appointed to produce a specification and design drawings for the refurbishment of a recreation and training room.
The space, which was previously utilitarian and unwelcoming, has been transformed by way of a specially designed suspended ceiling and provision of a new kitchen area. Part of the ceiling scheme uses individually suspended panels to allow natural daylight to filter through from the existing rooflights while concealing unsightly pipes and ducts and improving acoustics. Conker also devised the lighting scheme to correspond with different ‘zones’ of activity within the room.
The project came with the challenges of tight cost and time constraints as the space had to be back in commission within a relatively short timescale. Despite this, the contractor, Mays Building Services delivered without compromising on build quality and in turn providing an improved place where people can relax, meet and collaborate.
