Phase 2 of Starr Place is underway with our favourite team, Kithurst Homes and Passivhaus Contracts. The two buildings are for small business units of 25m2 or 50m2 each, and form part of our eco community in the heart of Canterbury. Tenants will have access to renewable energy, rainwater for WC flushing, communal veg garden, and shower facility for cyclists.

The frame for the first unit was delivered on trailers due to site constraints and manually handled into the work area.

The floor was laid by two carpenters in 2 days, external walls in another 2, then the roof structure in place at the beginning of week 2.  As of October 2025 the interior and exterior are sheathed and taped and preparation is under way for moving on to the second building.

All insulation is woodfibre. Windows are timber framed Rationel units, and the roof will be zinc standing seam.
