Conker’s new office is taking shape in Canterbury using a highly insulated timber frame system known as NIPPS and made in Sussex. The kit of parts was cut and labelled in the factory and delivered in stages to avoid too many components on site at once. Our team lead by Passivhaus Tradesman, Brain Murphy erected the frame over a period of days, constructing the wall panels on the floor, then we all mucked into raise the walls and the glulam beams.

Triple glazed windows have been fitted.

The roof is diagonally boarded in the traditional manner and is now being clad with natural zinc standing seam by Kent’s finest metal roofer, Shotton Metal Roofing. The triple glazed Fakro rooflight is upgraded with additional insulation and anti-thermal bridge material. Insulation will now be injected using wood fibres. Sweet chestnut from local woods has been felled earlier in the season and is now being converted into weatherboarding.

When the office is complete, we can demonstrate essential features to clients, such as solar shading, thermal insulation, triple glazing, heat pumps and ventilation (MVHR).

Work is commencing soon on two more units for rent.
