Major Overhaul
A major overhaul is taking shape at a home in Camber, Sussex. The owners, having completed not one but two homes up to AECB Silver Standard next door, also designed by Conker, have finally moved on to thermally upgrading and remodelling their own house.
The works comprise insulating and re-cladding the exterior of the building to compliment the appearance of the owners’ neighbouring projects, as well as a glazed rear extension. All windows have been replaced with far more energy efficient Rationel units. This project demonstrates how the ‘bones’ of even a poorly-performing building can be economically adapted to provide practical, usable space and energy efficient construction without having to resort to the wasteful process of complete demolition and rebuilding.
We very much look forward to seeing the end result.
