Timber Framed Warehouse

Nearly all new warehouses and industrial buildings are steel framed and insulated with plastic foamed insulation panels that have high embodied energy. The composite insulation panels are not recyclable, and the large manufacturers of these components have no regard for the environment. Regrettably we have worked on projects where many panels arrived on site damaged, they are not repairable so go direct to landfill. The insulation is flammable unless treated with highly toxic additives which are known to be injurious to our health. The completed buildings are not airtight and not thermally efficient, thermal bridges are everywhere.

There is an alternative, we are working on a timber framed industrial building with naturally insulated wall and roof panels. The system is being engineered in the UK by Build Collective, fabricated in Sussex by Kithurst Homes, and the wall panels by Steico. The system has a fire test certificate, is thermal bridge free, and above ground level is free from plastics. Better still, the system is competitively priced.
